Manager Spotlight: foxxx

Manager Spotlight: david1 (love, peace & understanding) -foxxx

By Flat Out

As of 15.01.2003.

This time the spotlight shines on one of the most talented managers in Scandinavia. He has been fighting on and off from the beginning of the WeBL, representing Scandinavia in all 3 olympics so far. Here is foxxx!!

First tell us a little about yourself, who is Foxxx?

Me, I'm David, an 18-year-old student from Östersund, Sweden. I study last year at upper secondary high school the natural science programme with speceial direction in environmental science. Here in webl I'm known as foxxx and david1. Oh, and who Foxxx is...well I just made a google-search, and Foxxx is some female pornstar (learn to spell my name damnit, it's foxxx not Foxxx! ;-).

You started your career way back before the region split, what got you into the game in the first place?

By that time I was playing the 1-on-1 basketball-game. The gamemaster informed all players there about this game, just when it was about to start, in week 1 of the webl history. Some weeks later I went over to check this game and I quickly realized that this game was much better and funnier than 1-on-1, so I quit 1-on-1 and started to play webl instead.

Then you quit just before the regional split, why?

Don't remember, I've always come left the game then and then. I don't think there were any special reason, except lost of motivation. Maybe I was busy doing other stuff or maybe it was because of boring chat people during that time.

Then after a long break you got back better than ever, what got you back?

Again, I don't really remember. I just felt for it I guess… Before I started creating fighters I worked a lot on trying to come up with the best fighter types and fp's. It was during this time I got a good hang of the game. First I started creating long complicated fp's trying to cover up all possible situations, but they didn't always work too well and often screwed up. Instead I started to develop shorter and more distinct fp's from my longer ones. The next step was to once again extend those shorter fp's from a simple base to something good and effective..

You are clearly one of the best managers in Scandinavia, yet you didn't get your
first world title until week 130, what are the reasons for that?

Well, I had my three first WT shots back in week 30, 36 and 37 (one vs. The Prodigal and two vs. Peekaboo), the reason why I didn't win them was basically 'cause I sucked. And after that,,,.. well I've never really set winning a wt as a goal. Usually I get bored and lose motivation of my fighters before they reach the top of contenders.

You had your first wt fight with Black Knight I at week 93, if I am correct. He seemed to be a brilliant fighter, yet you gave up with him, why?

Na, that was my fifth wt shot I think... Anyway, Black Knight I, well, it felt like all or nothing, in that WT-shot I had. I had all the odds against me with 2 AP disadvantage and my opponent several time undisputed champion. I had prepared for the fight very carefully and managed to scout his stats very exact and predicted his way of fighting. Everything went as planned until one conditional kicked in completely wrong in the later mid-rounds and it all ended up in big failure and humiliation. In other words, Black Knight I fought like a wimp, and lost, we didn't want him in our gym anylonger.

You have done a brilliant job representing Scandinavia in Olympics, you won the gold medal first time in feathers. How do you feel fighting in tournaments and how does your preparations differ from the regular game.

Well, it's a bit different I do believe. Fighter creation is important, training is important. Both managers are highly in focus. It's a game of psycology. Each fight is a duel where it is all or nothing. I like it and it suits me well I think :)

You won your first world title with Main Eventer at week 130. He doesn't look like a heavy we've used to see being successful in heavies nowadays, tell us a little about him.

Well, you could say that he sucks. For 15 weeks I intensive trained and still couldn't get rid of a single point of his, in my opinion, way too high conditioning. I won most of my fights because of predictable opponents. A bunch of kp-dancing giants who, if they only knew about the allout conditional, could have knocked me out in round 1 most of the fights.

Has there been any other fighters or fights more memorable than others, could you share them with us?

naaa

You have also dominated in Bare Knuckles division. First of all, your win% is amazing as usual, but what really strikes me is the fact that you've only got one draw in the region where draws are very common. Tell us about your reasoning in BK's.

For maximum effeciency in bare knuckles you should have str=agl I think. But for other reasons you may want a bit more str. Keep spd very low, maybe 1/3 of str or just slightly higher. Always go for very heavy build. (I never created my fighters like that though...)

How do you feel about other variable regions?

I think that it's a good idea to have other variable regions, but too bad neither of them
appears balanced.

You have recently created a Pro-region fighter, what do you think about the region?

It seems about the same as the regular region to me… But oh well, I like the few changes it has.

Do you still spend a lot of time preparing for fights or do you just choose a premade fp?

It's not much fun with choosing premade fp's I think. I do it sometimes, but when I start doing it, it usually means that I'm about to retire.

You have been around to see most of the rule changes. Has the game developed into right direction, what has been your favourite engine and what are your thoughts of the current engine?

Hard to tell. The current one seems quite good… The everlasting problem seems to be chin and KP, because these two stats make the game to a too much of a luck-and-guessing-game in my opinion. The reason why is that you only have use for them in certain fights and certain rounds. If we somehow could make KP and chin to "playing-stats" in a good way it would be much better I think. By playing-stats I mean attributes that you'll have more or less help of in every round, and effects the endurance and/or score battle.

You have also been around to see all the great managers of the past and present. Who do you think are the best managers of present and all time in Scandinavia and Contenders?

I don't know. Three managers I can say I've personally been impressed by is The Prodigal, Peekaboo and Umea West Side.

You don't seem to be too active at the moment, can we expect a new wave of fighters in the near future?

no, doubt that.

How do you see the Scandinavian region nowadays? Are there any new gyms who impress you more than others?

Sorry, I don't keep track of them.

You have been chosen to represent Scandinavia again in the coming Olympics, how do you like our, and your own, chances of winning the whole thing again?

If Scandinavia stand up and work as a team I think we will win this thing. Basically any region that go for it and work as a team can do good I think. Oh and me..well,,.I'm gunna win.

Any final thoughts?

I'd like to thank all friends I learnt to know here through webl such as Vei, Pasoa, Monk, Anfield, Stampy to name a few. The people I've met here outside the ring have certainly meant more to me and brought better memories than the fights I've had inside the ring.

Thank you very much for your time, I hope to meet you in the ring soon. All the best.

bye, bye
