the beginning
Umea West Side could hardly have gotten any better introduction to the game. He
was introduced by some of Sweden's finest managers (Honest Harry, MICSTURE and Ivan
the holy pheeld) who themselves fought for Scandinavian glory long before Umea
West Side entered the WeBL scene. A scene he has since gone on to master to
almost perfection.
how good is he?
Umea West Side ranks as one of the most feared and respected gyms in WeBL.
Currently the highest ranked Scandinavian (ranked #3, behind only the legendary
The Prodigal and the prodigy Vault of Horror) on the respected Chess Rankings.
Lost in the WeBL olympics to exactly The Prodigal in a fight that saw The Prodigal
using sissy tactics (read: a lot of jabs) in the latter stages of the fight to
secure victory.
trademarks
Besides his impressive winning percentage and powerful fighters, Umea West Side
is known for having only a few active fighters. A shame one might say but on
the other hand it helps him to focus solely on these fighters.
the inspiration
The inspiration for his fighter's names is to be found in the DIY world (DIY
means Do It Yourself). Herb Reichert is sort of an amplifier guru for people
who like Umea West Side are interested in constructing/building high
quality hifi equipment like amplifiers and loudspeakers. His power amplifiers
(based on so called 300B tubes) and which he has built himself are designed by
Herb Reichert. Most fighters in his gym are named after DIY audio gurus, like
Lynn T. Olson (his loudspeakers are of his design) and Hiroyasu Kondo (who
has designed a pre-amlifier which he just finished building).
herb reichert - the first world champion
Umea West Side recently earned himself his first world champion in the form of
Herb Reichert - 25 wins (14 by knock out) and 1 loss. The only loss coming by
disqualification against Kunzea ericoides (African Monk`s Botanical Garden)
in a fight Reichert dominated as the bell rang for round 1. In his eager to
take out ericoides he was DQ'ed in round 5 by which time ericoides had already
stumbled to the ground 4 four times resulting in a broken jaw among
his many injuries. In a press release following the fight, African Monk acknowledged
his opponent stating that he was very lucky to get away with the win. It should
be stated that African Monk himself is one the most hard-hitting managers in WeBL
which makes Umea West Side's outslugging of him even more impressive. One can
only sit back and enjoy what will hopefully be a long reign at the top for
Reichert.
