Where Did They Go? - The First Scandinavian Champions

Over the time Scandinavia has produced some fine regional champions. But what happened to that very first batch? How did the first winners in each weight class do after they won that coverted title? This page takes a look at what each one of them has achieved after they won the first Scandinavian title ever to be given out in their weightclass. The first round of titlefights got scheduled in week 43, but some weightclasses had to wait a week or two to be able to crown the first champion.

Heavyweight

Spoonblob (Lardo)

Had two titlefights before the split against the legend ~!!! Slick customer !!!~ and was knocked out cold both times. After a total of seven regional titlefights Spoonblob earned his ticket to contenders and was matched against a future legend: Who. The fight ended a draw and Spoonblob hang around rank 50-60 for some time, with #38 as all time high, before he started to run into a bad string of KO's and started to drop steadily down the ranks. At the moment Spoonblob is still active and is ranked at #122 with a record of 30-27-9 (0/20).

Cruiserweight

Knock Down Jr. (Svett och blod)

Won his first title in the third attempt and made a total of 6 regional titlefights. Knock Down Jr. got to #25 as his highest ranking, but never really got a grip on contenders and started to drop down the ranks after having maintained a ranking around 30 for a month and a half. Knock Down Jr. retired in December 2000 with a record of 21-14-5 (8/8).

Light-Heavyweight

mika "struds" monjo (MICSTURE)

Became the first Scandinavian Light-Heavyweight champ by revenging a loss to Mr Punch who had beaten mika in a titlefight the week before. He succesfully defended the title and continued to win in contenders. He made it till #22 before taking a break, only to get KO'ed in his comeback fight. That didn't stop mika though as he came back and got up to an all time high of #9 before another KO stopped his winning streak. mika never really recovered from that and hung around #20-25 for a couple of months before he retired with a record of 25-9-3 (11/5). But unlike many others he went out in style as his last fight ended with a 12th-round KO.

Super-Middleweight

Gustav Bratt (Butt)

Won the first Scandinavian Super-Middleweight title by delivering a savage beating to Jokker-DK, not unlike other of his previous fights in Europe. Continued to rise in contenders untill fellow Scandinavian Rough John put an end to it with a KO. From then on it was rough times for Gustav Bratt and he never got back to the level he had when he fought Rough John. At that time Gustav was ranked #15 in the world. Gustav Bratt is still active and is ranked #103 with a record of 28-22-4 (13/11).

Middleweight

Klogg (tjomme)

Fought to a draw in the first ever Middleweight titlefight in Scandinavia, but won the title a week later by defeating I should`ve opted for basketball. He beat the same fighter again the week after to earn his ticket to contenders. Klogg got a rough welcome to contenders as his first fight ended with a KO-loss. Klogg came back strong and started to climb the ranks and made it to #13 where he was stopped by a KO by Chester "The Jester" Limestone. Klogg fought one more fight which gave him a KO-win before he retired with a record of 19-5-2 (10/2).

Super-Welterweight

Erik 'CashCow' Sonderskov (Hasan Rulez)

Made a transfer from PityPart to Hasan Rulez shortly before his first titlefight. This seemed to suit him well as he won two titles in a row by KO'ing Hogge twice. After that he had a bit of a bad start in contenders, but managed to get back on track to win the majority of his fights and slowly climb the ranks. He made it to a ranking as #11 before a string of bad results dropped him to a ranking around 30. Erik 'CashCow' Sonderskov retired after two wins by KO and a record of 28-16-1 (19/8).

Welterweight


Rough John (Umea West Side)

Defeated James Greenwater to get to contenders and became the first Scandinavian Welterweight champ in the proces. Rough John continued to punch his way up the ranks in contenders and wasn't stopped until he ran into future World Champion Iddo at rank 7. Rough John got back and fought another future World Champion, Herrman Okej, to a draw. John got another two wins before ending his career with a majority-loss to Herrman Okej. After entering contenders Rough John only lost to future World Champions. Rough John retired with a record of 20-5-2 (6/1).

Super-Lightweight


Lord Pain I (Pains Gym)

One of the first of many fighters from Pains Gym with similar name and fighting style. Lord Pain had KO'ed most of his opponents in the region. It took him four attempts to get the ticket to contenders as he lost his title in the first defence, but regained it a week later. He entered contenders at rank 48 and never got any higher. A string of 9 KO-losses sent him sliding down the ranks and he retired with a record of 19-18-0 (18/15).

Lightweight


Don T. Blink (Slap Me Hard)

Defeated Toothpick Tim to get the Scandinavian Lightweight belt. Lost it the week after to the future World Champion Cesky Dub. After Cesky made it to contenders Don T. got his second title and followed Cesky. Don T. Blink made it to rank 9 where a loss to another future World Champion, Ty Mikeson Jr. After that followed another two decision losses before Don T. Blink retired with a record of 18-11-4 (0/0).

Super-Featherweight

Den nye (Sieg Hans Brses Sner)

Won the first Scandinavian Super-Feather title against Marty Mugshot by unanimous decision. He retired immediately after and haven't fought since. He retired with a record of 12-5-0 (4/3).

Featherweight

JunkYard Keith (JunkYard)

Won the title by split decision over Nylon Beat, after having lost his last four fights in Europe. Lost the title the week after to Nylon Beat. After that he won a fight against Fighter-DK before he retired with a record of 18-15-4 (0/0). He never made it to contenders.

Super-Bantamweight

JunkYard Rufus (JunkYard)

Won the title against Kim-DK by unanimous decision. Lost it a week later to Sara-DK before regaining it by defeating Kim-DK once again. Won one fight in contenders before he retired with a record of 16-11-1 (0/2).

Bantamweight

Champ-DK (Honse)

Became a contender by defeating Sprutten by two lopsided decisions. Made it to #30 by winning his two first contenderfights before a KO-loss started his decend. Champ-DK started to lose more fights than he won and dropped to rank #100 where he hang around for a couple of months before rhe retired with a record of 23-24-6 (4/8) after two losses in a row by KO.

Super-Flyweight

Richard 23 (Punish Your Machine Inc.)

A fighter in whose career it was either a win or a brutal KO-loss. Won the first Scandinavian Super-Fly title by defeating FinnFighter - and defeated him again to gain access to contenders. Started out nicely with three wins moving him up to #18 before having his rise temporarily halted by a new loss by KO. Richard 23 came back strong and made it to #8 before a string of 3 KO-losses dropped him down the ranks and he never got back from that. He tried to turn his career around for a couple of months, but it just would not happen. Richard 23 retired with a record of 29-27-0 (0/20).

Flyweight

Monkey Williams (Flat Out)

Lost in his debut as a pro, but from then on there was no stopping him in the regional ranks. Monkey Williams became a contender by defeating Kjell "the smell" twice. Lost his first fight in contenders and never really gained a good grip at contenders and remained around rank 50-60 for some time before he finally got it right late in his career where he made it to #28 where he lost to Sterling Sharpe in his last fight. He retired with a record of 22-11-2 (8/5).

Junior-Flyweight

Bubble Bobble (PityPart)

Won his second regional title - and first Scandinavian title - by defeating Bebben arlsson by KO. Started his contender career with 4 straight wins and got to rank #8 before a loss to future World Champion Seumas Mac Coinnich. That was followed by three wins which gave Bubble Bobble his highest ranking as #7. A loss then dropped him to around #15 where he hang on for a month before he retired with a record of 22-8-2 (17/3).

Strawweight

Pipsisewah (PityPart)

Became the first Scandinavian Strawweight champion by winning against Stoja Turmonster by DQ. Lost the title the week after and had to wait a few weeks to get his ticket to contenders. Made it to #24 where a KO-loss to Serpenter stopped his rise. Pipsisewah came back from the loss and won his next two fights to get him to an all-time-high as #20, where two losses by KO put an end to his career. Pipsisewah retired with a record of 18-6-1 (14/4).
